About Dr. Rynk
Thank you for visiting our site. I’m Dr. Lindsey Rynk, the founder of Tranquil Transitions, and I’d like to share a little about myself.
I currently live in Marblehead, Massachusetts with my husband, three young children, and two cats. I love all things active and outdoors, and especially enjoy hiking, boating, and dipping with the Wolfepack. While I consider myself a cat person, with a special fondness for the "spicy" variety, I truly love all animals.
My veterinary career began in California, where I worked first in a traditional small animal clinic and then with a mobile practice. After two years in private practice, I discovered a passion for shelter medicine, serving as the Medical Director for a small animal shelter on the Central Coast of California. Seven years ago, I moved to Massachusetts to become the Medical Director for the MSPCA Northeast Animal Shelter.
With the creation of Tranquil Transitions, I have stepped back from my full-time shelter role. I feel this move will allow me to better support my family, our community and stay engaged in shelter medicine from a fresh perspective. I continue to work with national shelter associations, the MSPCA and the Animal Rescue League.
My experience in the shelter environment has provided me with the unique opportunity to work with animals of varied behaviors, backgrounds, and medical conditions. It has given me the ability to think creatively, care for the most vulnerable of animal populations and provide comfort in times of stress. I am excited to bring this experience to our community, guiding pets and their families through the most challenging time within the human-animal bond.
The Inspiration Behind Tranquil Transitions
The decision to help our dog, Brickley, pass peacefully at home in 2024 highlighted the immense privilege of the in-home euthanasia experience. It allowed Brickley to transition calmly in a familiar and loving setting. Knowing this process was positive and supportive for him was a huge comfort to us during this extremely emotional time.
Months later, a close friend asked for similar assistance with their own dog. I was heartbroken to realize that legal restrictions prevented me from offering them the same experience we had provided for Brickley. Our pets are an integral part of our family, providing daily love and joy, and their physical and emotional comfort during their last moments are paramount. I realized then that I wanted to be able to provide a tranquil experience for other animals and their families.
With the creation of Tranquilt Transitions my goal is to provide the same compassionate end-of-life care that I would choose for my own pets.
